Shade Chase — Privacy Policy
The short version: Shade Chase is a color-guessing game. It has no accounts, no sign-up, and asks for nothing about you. Your game progress stays on your device. Gameplay statistics are collected only if you switch them on in Settings, and you can delete them again from the same place. Reward ads (optional, to continue a run) are always served non-personalized. On first launch iOS asks, via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, whether Google — our ad partner — may use your device's advertising identifier for delivering and measuring those ads. Declining changes nothing about the game.
Who we are
Shade Chase is developed and published by Robin Witzner (Denmark). For anything in this policy, contact laeromdet@gmail.com.
What the app stores on your device
Your progress — current run, high score, settings, and your analytics choice — is saved in a local file on your device. We never transmit it anywhere (it can only leave the device through your own device backups, such as iCloud), and it is removed when you delete the app. We have no servers of our own and no way to read it.
Gameplay analytics (off until you opt in)
In Settings you can choose to share anonymous gameplay statistics. Until you explicitly opt in, nothing is sent — events are dropped, not queued. If you opt in, the app records a small set of gameplay events (for example “run started”, “level passed”, “continue used”) through Unity Analytics, a service operated by Unity Technologies.
What the events contain
- A random run identifier, the level being played, difficulty, and whether it was passed
- How close your guess was, as a coarse 0–10 band — never the actual color values you picked
- App version, platform, and content-catalog version
By design, the events can never contain your name, email address, free text, precise location, contacts, photos, health data, or advertising identifiers. The event schema is restricted to snake_case names with primitive values, enforced in code.
What Unity's SDK collects to make this work
When analytics are enabled, Unity's SDK also processes technical data such as an install/user identifier, a device identifier, device model, and a coarse country/region derived from your IP address. Unity acts as our processor for this data. Note that the Unity engine's services layer performs a technical handshake with Unity when the app launches (which assigns the install identifier); gameplay analytics events themselves are never recorded until you opt in. See Unity's Privacy Policy.
Deleting your analytics data
Settings → Delete my analytics data turns analytics sharing off (deleting implies withdrawing your consent) and sends a deletion request to Unity for the data associated with your install. If the request cannot be sent right then — for example when the device is offline — email us and we will arrange the deletion with Unity for you. Turning analytics off at any time stops all further collection immediately.
Reward ads
When a run ends, you may be offered the choice to watch a short reward ad to continue playing. Ads are served by Google AdMob and are always requested non-personalized (contextual ads only, maximum ad content rating G, suitable for general audiences), whatever you answer to any prompt.
The tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency)
On first launch, iOS shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you allow it, Google may use your device's advertising identifier to deliver and measure ads — for example limiting how often you see the same ad and attributing ad performance. Because that identifier is shared with Google, an advertising partner, Apple classifies this as data that can be used to track you, and our App Store privacy label discloses it accordingly. If you decline (or if tracking requests are disabled on your device), the identifier is unavailable to the app and ads still work — non-personalized, as always. You can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
The ads consent message
Depending on your region (for example the EEA/UK, or certain US states), a consent message from Google's User Messaging Platform appears after the tracking prompt. Where the consent choices permit it (or where no message is required), the Google Mobile Ads SDK starts once the consent step completes and keeps a reward ad prepared in the background — from shortly after launch and during runs — so one is ready if you ask for a continue. An ad is only ever shown when you choose one. To deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google processes technical data such as your IP address and device information. See How Google uses information from ads and Google's Privacy Policy. Declining the consent message means the ads SDK is not started at all: no continue is ever offered, and the game is otherwise identical. You can revisit these choices via Settings → Ad privacy options (shown where your region requires it), and the in-app Privacy policy link always opens this page.
What we never do
- No accounts, names, email addresses, or contact lists
- No precise location
- No data broker sharing and no selling of personal data
- No personalized advertising — ads are non-personalized even if you allow tracking
- No sharing beyond the two processors named here (Google for ads, Unity for opt-in analytics)
Children
Shade Chase is a general-audience game; it is not directed at children. Ads are always non-personalized with content rated G, analytics are off by default, and the app has no accounts and never asks anyone for personal details such as a name or email address. The limited technical data described above is never used to build advertising or interest profiles.
Your rights (GDPR and similar laws)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of personal data. The fastest paths: turn analytics off or use the in-app deletion button (analytics), and delete the app (local data). For anything else, email laeromdet@gmail.com and we will help — including forwarding requests to Unity or Google where they hold the data. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority (in Denmark: Datatilsynet).

Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change (for example new features in an update), this page will be updated first and the effective date above revised. Meaningful changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
